Derek Miller - Attorney

Derek Miller, a dedicated attorney, was born in Warren, Michigan, and carries a deep commitment to public service. He grew up seeing his father, a State Senator, help community members find solutions to their problems. That example, coupled with his father's regret about not earning a law degree, inspired Derek. Derek E. Miller Attorney has had a distinguished career, previously serving as Chief of Operations for the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, overseeing sixty attorneys. He also acted as an Assistant Prosecutor, managing busy dockets. As a State Legislator, Derek authored Wyatt's Law, creating Michigan's first Child Abuse Registry. Later, he served as Macomb County Treasurer, creating "Keep Macomb Your Home" to prevent foreclosures.

What drives Derek Miller is a genuine care for his clients, built on hard work and active listening. He gained unique insights as a prosecutor, understanding exactly how cases are built and tried. This experience now helps him identify weaknesses in cases for his defense clients. He helps those struggling with poverty or addiction, recognizing a need for better education on basic life skills.

Derek Miller graduated from Cousino High, Michigan State University, and University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. He once helped under-represented veterans through the Project Salute program. Derek and his wife are active in their local Catholic Church and remain very involved with Macomb Habitat for Humanity. He recently hired his first paid intern from his alma mater, eager to expand his firm to assist more individuals.
